2021 = Award Winning Milliner!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Can you believe its 2022. Where has the last year gone?

Like many 2021 started off rocky. Not only was I a Milliner, it also saw me becoming a teacher once again, with the joys of home schooling. Trying to juggle the two was tricky to say the least, but hey we got through.

Luckily from then on it got busier and busier with the return of weddings and events. People were excited once again to have the opportunity to dress up and celebrate special occasions. I loved having my customers back visiting my studio and having the opportunity to make them feel a million dollars in their All Dunn Up headpiece.

British millinery association

In May saw the launch of the British Millinery Association, which I became a member of. This has been a great opportunity for me to connect with fellow milliners, learn new skills and help to keep British millinery alive.

My greatest achievement by far was becoming an ‘AWARD WINNING MILLINER’

In November I won the award for Best Wedding Accessories, at the Southwest Wedding Awards.

southwest wedding awards winner

It was a great honour to win, as these awards recognise those businesses which exceed the expectations of their customers and provide outstanding service. I would like to say a massive thank you to all my customers who voted for me. The comments that you gave to the judges were wonderful and made me realise that I am pretty good at what I do.

 ‘Rachel was courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and offered excellent advice to help me choose the right products for the big day (my daughter’s wedding). The products were of very good quality and excellent value for money. I have no hesitation in using Rachel again and recommending her. I truly hope she wins the award!’

‘I had a fascinator made for my daughter’s wedding day to match my dress. I sent photos of my dress so Rachel could send me some sample fabrics and feathers to chose from. I chose them and let Rachel  know. Ever the perfectionist she wanted to double check it was the exact right colour and so she went the extra mile. She bought the dress I was going to wear to compare it in the correct light!!! What an absolute start she is. I had so many compliments about my fascinator which was so important as I’d lost my hair earlier in the year due to having chemotherapy treatment. Rachel helped me feel like a million dollars with my short hair and fascinator’

I love what I do and love to make people feel special. So THANK YOU!

Who knows what 2022 will bring, but I’m looking forward to meeting new customers, creating fabulous headpieces, and who knows there maybe something new coming to All Dunn Up (Keep posted).

Dear Rachel
Congratulations on winning you wonderful award! I just wanted to say that I did a two day millinery course with a professional milliner in Exeter just before lockdown and didn’t realise how hooked I became. Lockdown was fabulous for me because i couldn’t stop making occasion felt hats and wedding hatinators. Every morning at 9am I would be at my desk and worked on a hat and as soon as I finished I started on another one finally making 42 hats all different designs and colours which are all displayed in a room. My tutor has seen them and is very complimentary. I have had three people come to my house in Lyme Regis bringing their wedding outfits and all bought from me. I also sold two to Londoners. I loved the experience. I can’t wait to make another hat but I can’t until I sell more. And that is the problem. My business is called Hats to Love in Lyme Regis (Dorset) and I am on Yell.com. Do you have any advice for me, please. I have sewn all my life, love colour, love art, painting etc. but all I want to do is make hats! Hope you can help me please. Best wishes Rosalyn.
